Frugal Vacation Day 5: A Trip to the Zoo

I know the title of this post doesn't sound very frugal, but Hubby and I saved $42 yesterday when we went to the zoo.

How in the world did we do that?

While I don't like getting into the specifics of where I live, I have never mentioned what state I live in. I live in the glorious state of Georgia. Here in Georgia, the public library system has a program through Zoo Atlanta where you can check out a DVD from your local library, view it, return it, and received a pass that allows two adults and two children into Zoo Atlanta for FREE. There are rules and stipulations, of course.

The difficulty with the program is that it is rare to actually see the DVD available - the program is insanely popular here. However, the DVD was in last week and I couldn't help but check it out. I returned the DVD a few days later and received my admission pass, and Hubby and I ventured to Atlanta yesterday to visit the zoo.

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from our excursion.

Meerkat!

The lion - aka what my cats think they are.

A red panda.

We spent three hours walking around and taking lots of pictures. Afterwards, we explored Atlanta and went out to a late lunch. It was such a fun trip! My only complaint was the heat. I'm so very ready for fall.

We bought lunch out and put gas in the car (again!). Yesterday's total spent was $38.63.
