In my previous post I alluded to some other big news in my life.
I am now working full-time at my library.
This past week has been an absolutely whirlwind of positivity. I'm still trying to absorb everything. My full-time position doesn't officially begin until Monday, but I have been doing little things here and there to prepare for it. I will eventually go into more detail about what I'll be doing. First, I have to hit the ground running and get into a routine so I know exactly what I'll be doing. I am filling a position that hasn't had someone new in it for over 10 years. Things should be interesting.
Of course, now that I'll be working full-time I'll have a pay increase. And even better, we will finally have health benefits! It has been over two years since we have had employer-provided health insurance - we had COBRA for a while in 2008, but the cost was ridiculous. And being the dork that I am, I'm excited to fill out the paperwork for the benefits because I've never had a full-time job that has offer me benefits. Isn't that insane?
Thank you for reading about all the positivity in my life. If you've read this far, I want to know about something positive going on in your life right now.
Well, like you we've had a great year. My husband retired from the military and we moved back to our home area where he's starting working for the government on a second career. We sold our old home out west and have been able to buy a 2yr old home almost completely with cash and to top it off, my old employer decided to take a chance and have me work from home. They're a large corporation but really don't have anyone working out of their house so they're testing it out with me. I only work 5hrs/day and in this area I'm able to make as much working from home 5hrs as I would if I had to go to an office and work 8hrs. The salaries here aren't as good as where we were from. We've been really fortunate and like you, I have to pinch myself daily to make sure it isn't a dream.
ReplyDeleteCongradulations to you! You've made all your goals except for one and the year isn't over yet.
I'm so proud of you, SHL! This is great news in itself, and I also bet it will help you knock out that last 2010 goal in no time. :) You are doing so great & I'm so, so happy for you.
ReplyDeleteI've been really down in the dumps lately, but reading your request for good news forced me to think about what I'm thankful for. Even though school is impossibly hard, I am still doing my dream - and I am thankful for that. I am also pumped that BF is going to move out here in two weeks and our little family (the two of us and two cats) will be whole again.
Congrats again, and keep sharing the good news with us!
Congrats! Exciting news :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the congratulations. :o)
ReplyDeleteLife as a Purse, I'm so happy that you're looking forward to your BF and kitties finally moving with you. Our cats didn't move back with us until a few days ago, and life finally feels normal just having them there. I'm sure your BF is as equally pumped to see you as well. :)
So...you're not pregnant?
ReplyDeleteHaha, kidding! Congratulations, and I can't wait to hear all the stories about your new position!
I have so many to tell you already! :)
