Goodies to Donate

On Sunday, I was unpacking our things from our weekend away when I couldn't take the state of our closet any longer. So I took out our spring/summer clothing from storage, removed our fall/winter clothing from the closet, and started cleaning and decluttering. Our cats enjoyed hiding in all the clothes, while I enjoyed the feeling of getting rid of the insane amount of clutter - especially among our wardrobe.

Two and a half hours later, I created this:

Two large garbage bags of clothing to donate. I also created a small pile of clothes to trash because they were just awful - why did I keep them around for so long?

I like how The Happy (atheist) Homemaker is decluttering her home and keeping track of how many items she is removing. In those two and a half hours, I removed 40-something items from our wardrobe. The closet still needs some work, but it’s a lot less anxiety-inducing when I walk in it now.

How often do you declutter your living space?

  1. Great job!! I go in spurts with decluttering/purging.. but i'm in a "purging" mood now! lol! Went through my girls toys today, tossed out a bagfull and listed 5-6 bigger toy items for sale, & packed away a bag to rotate out later. I still have to do my front hall closet.. it's brutal. lol! I'll have to take before/after pics too!

  2. I go in spurts, too. It seems like whenever I have a spurt, I'll declutter a whole bunch and by the time I've gotten through everything, it'll be time to declutter again! It's a vicious cycle.
